Corporate Family Day

The title may be a bit confusing, let me make it clear. I had been given a chance to host the family day of a company. I have always been part of my parent’s office family day but as a kid and played the games, this was a difficult challenge for me.

After the welcome drink, I started off with a quote by John F Kennedy “we must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives” thereby linking the day as the company showing gratitude to their employees. Then came the “kutty” heroes of the day kids less than 5 years, their task was to separate the different colors in the gems packet. They can be aided by one of their parents but the parent can only assist their kid. Attracted by the colors, one gem went into the cup and the next into the mouth. After a lot of fun with the kids, we had a winner.

Then came the more grown-ups, between 5-10 years, these kids had to blow the ball from the first cup to the third cup and then the ball must go between the two cups. To explain in more detail three cups will be filled completely with water that will be adjacent to each other, leaving a small gap after the third cup there are 2 cups parallel to each other. The ball should pass through the gap between the 2 cups. These kids in a hurry to win started blowing the ball as soon as the time was started, while trying to blow the ball the water started gushing out due to the force. Half the time passed by trying to refill the cup. The tired kids were encouraged by a very cheerful audience and they sprang back to action. The winner was so pleased about completing the game but not about winning.

The employees had the most interesting game, they should have a blown balloon tied to the ankles and all should stand in a restricted area. When the game starts the employees should make sure that their balloon is not burst but others balloon should be burst. In this interesting game I noticed three types of people:

1. Don’t care about their balloon but want to burst others balloons

2. Even after their balloon is busted they make sure their friends balloon is also busted which is a rule violation but still it’s just a game

3. The most smart and peculiar few who just stood in one of the corners watching others play

The perspective changes are a lot in a small group, think about the world that we are/ we are going to face with a lot of different and contrasting perspectives?

Finally, after delivering the vote of thanks, a group of employees congratulated me for my dedication for the MC and for always having the 100 member group engaged. They were also surprised by my age and one of the head managers cheered me to keep up this confidence and dedication. That was a memorable moment for me.

While finishing my blog, I realised my passion that I have blogged about until now is C^3:
