Members and guest orientation program

I am part of a club called Gavels which helps people to improve their existing speaking skills and make them a good public speaker and in all other formats. The difference between gavels and toastmasters is the age, members below 18 are part of gavels club and above 18 are part of toastmaster club. The goal of both the clubs is the same. I have finished the first set of 10 speeches which is part of the manual Competent Communicator.

In the communication part there are four parts each requiring 10 speeches:

1. Competent Communicator

2. Advanced Communicator Bronze

3. Advanced Communicator Silver

4. Advanced Communicator Gold

Overall by completing 40 speeches you will complete the communication part of Toastmasters.

In the leadership part:

1. Competent leader and Competent Communicator

2. Advanced Leader Bronze

3. Advanced Leader Silver

After finishing the communication and leadership courses you will be considered as a Distinguished Toastmaster(DTM).

Today in our meeting we planned to have a member and guest orientation program to inform the guests who are planning to join and already existing members about what our club does what to do to finish a communication part and leadership part. I did the Communication part and my fellow gavilier covered the leadership part. All of our members are still doing the Competent Communicator speeches, hence I decided to walk through the objectives of all the 10 speeches and explained to them in detail all of the nuances and shared my experience. I shared few points that I add to my speech and how to write a good speech to help them understand better. After completing my 30 min lecture my fellow gavilier continued about Leadership and one of the Toastmasters gave a keynote speech on his experience to winning a inter-college speech Olympiad and finally another gavilier gave a lecture about how to conduct a good zoom meeting session covering all the details.
