If I could change a few things about myself what would it be?

There are 5 qualities that I want to change in myself, and they are:

First, I want to control my anger. What is anger, anger is an emotion. A lot say that anger can be good as it will help you get over your negative feelings but, as the saying goes too much of anything is good for nothing. Why do u get angry or why does anyone get angry? Mostly because of someone else's actions right?? "Being angry is like holding a piece of coal in your hand and hoping that the other person feels pain" by Wendy Merron. Wendy Merron means that you are putting yourself in pain and thinking that the person who is the reason for it is feeling the pain. The action that you take when you’re angry is affecting you and not anyone else. I have lost a lot making decision when I was angry. Simple things like fighting with my parents and not eating my food. This will affect me and my health but not my parents, although I believe they will feel bad for me.

Second, I want to be more patient. The ability to accept a delay is patience. I am always in a hurry to finish the task that I have no matter what it is, even during an exam I complete it as quickly as possible and come out of the exam hall. The thing is that I haven't given a second thought about anything in my life till now. Sometimes that was good and sometimes the worst. For example: rechecking my maths paper would have helped me find the silly mistakes that I made and correct them, resulting in a better score. I feel being little more patient and calm will help me reach heights that I have never reached.

Third, being a learner and a good listener. For 17 years of my life, my parents told me to study but now I want to have the motivation in me to learn and start studying by myself. In this fast changing world, you have to keep improving your knowledge to make sure you get better and better in your work. Being a good listener is a key skill which a lot of people lack. Listening is a key for communication. Listening is not just hearing what I or anyone is speaking but looking at their body language, tone and gestures making sure that you understand what you hear. Mark Twain said "If we were supposed to talk more than listen then we would have two tongues and one ear". As I have two ears and a tongue I should be a good listener.

Fourth, being more creative, when most of us hear the word creativity, we often think of an artist or a musician. While they are creative types of individuals, I am referring to something different here. I am referring to the ability to think outside the box and demonstrate unique or creative ways to solve problems. Creative thinking is looking at something in a new way or perspective. Let me ask you all a riddle, a man went to a bar and asked the bartender for water, the bartender searched for some time and pointed a gun at the man, and the man said thanks and went. Why? When do u think a person will want water? In a normal scenario, it would be when they feel thirsty but now you need to think outside the box to understand the reason. A person might want water when he/ she is having hiccups. What is it to do with the gun? It is believed that during hiccups getting a shock will stop anyone from getting hiccups, hence the man got shocked when the bartender pointed a gun at him. This is out of the box thinking or creative thinking of solving a problem.

Finally, being the master of time. I want to make the best out of the 24 hours I have every day. Time is very important. A person can be judged by the way he uses the time because, a person who spends his day doing whatever he feels like and a person who allocates time for each of his task and follows them show a lot of difference. I want to be the person who allocates time for each task and follows it accordingly. What if a genie comes to you and says I will give 86400 rupees every day, with a condition that you have to use the money on the same day. What will u do? You will use it as effectively as possible right? The same thing applies with time there are 86400 seconds every day and you have to use it very effectively as you would do with money. I will create a timetable where my tasks for the day will be allotted according to its priority and I will make sure that I follow it properly.
These are the qualities that I want to change in myself for my own benefits. “The first step toward change is awareness. The second is acceptance” by Nathaniel Branden. I have successfully completed the first step by identifying my qualities that I should change and now I should accept and change.
