Teachers? Facilitators?

I have always fancied teaching; I believe that teachers play an important role in student’s life ‘not only in terms of teaching a subject’. My perspective of a teacher is not a person who teaches a subject and just leaves, I believe teachers should be a facilitator.
Many believe that teacher and a facilitator is the same but there is a big difference between facilitator and a teacher, a facilitator guides you to learn something new it can be anything politics, sports not only limited to the content of the subject. Teacher is believed to be a person who only abides by the prescribed book and teaches the student. If a facilitator starts going off the subject matter almost 50% of the class will not be interested, out of the rest 50: 10% will properly listen the rest 40 will just hear bits and pieces. This is because we all feel that it’s not their job to talk or discuss about any topic apart from the subject content.
Why do we feel like this, why do you think that we all think like this? I believe we are no different than robots. Robots work by the code which was built into it, I believe others actions are the code which is automatically being stored in ourselves and we behave like them. Let’s take a simple example: why do people always face the opening door of the lift while in the lift? Why can’t we turn and stand? Obviously everyone will think you are a fool. We have seen many people standing facing the door and hence we too follow that. Don’t you think we behave no different than a robot? This is just one example, there are many more like this.

Billions of people I literally mean billions of people are running, the people who are running don’t know why they are running and where they are going. We all are running just because others are and don’t know why. There is no point in running behind others, there is something we can do about this, first think about what you want, then run were you want to go. This will make a huge change in many of our lives.

I will not be a teacher and rather a facilitator. In my next blog I will share my first experience of teaching a student as a facilitator.
