Freedom Ship? Floating City?

The freedom ship is a floating city which is expected to materialize soon. The mile-long ship will have buildings that are about 25 stories tall. It is believed to be the largest man-made structure on Earth and can also become an independent country. The Freedom ship is designed to be 4,500 feet long, 750 feet wide and 350 feet high.

Back in the 1990’s Norman Nixon was an engineer in Florida, he was developing a small island in Turks and Caicos but during the process he lost the property and changed his plans to build a floating city. Roger Gooch an entrepreneur was thinking about modifying the cabins of the ships to condos. One day while Roger was reading the paper he saw a small article about condo-cruise-ship seminar. Roger attended the seminar and met Norman who was conducting it, after discussing in detail Roger was brought to the team as the head of marketing to convey the idea to the public. At 2000’s a lot of articles were talking about the Freedom ship while Roger made a deal with the Discovery Channel in 2002 to broadcast a documentary about the freedom ship. The idea of the ship was to house 50,000 permanent residents and 30,000 tourists each day. At the top of the ship there are two runways for the planes to land and takeoff. These are not like the usual planes; these planes can carry about 40 passengers. It also includes school facility, casinos, malls, swimming pool and everything you can think of.

For construction of the ship it required over 10 billion dollars, hence external funding was important. They started to search for ways to bring in capital to start the work, many investors weren’t satisfied even with high equity due to the reason that the ship wasn’t proven to be successful. Even with interests from the wealthy in the middle-east, for starting the construction they needed at least 1.5 billion dollars. After the death of Norman Nixon, Roger continued to get more funding to try and accomplish his and his friend’s goal. He established contact with a company in Hong Kong named Global Development. Roger hopes to have a substantial increase in the capital at the year 2020 which is the current year and progress in the years following.
